review of shadow shapes

i am reposting a handout from the charles bargue drawing course - refer to this as a good method/thought process to rendering lights and darks, and make note that the illusion of light revealing form comes from a simplification of the shadow side of form, and that it never competes with the lights on the light side of the form.
